What Anti-Drone Technology Do and How They Work?

Drones can cause security concerns and disrupt airspaces. In 2015, a drone in the White House was only detected by Secret Service members, while in Ohio, thousands of dollars worth of contraband was smuggled into a prison. These incidents highlight the need to combat drones to maintain privacy and security. Audio detection devices can detect drones with accuracy up to 500 feet in calm, pastoral settings. However, a study in 2017 found that in noisy environments, these devices struggle to accurately identify incoming drones. Therefore, it is crucial to combat drones and ensure the privacy and security of various facilities.


Drones use radio frequency technology to communicate with operators, paired with RFID chips to prevent other devices on the same frequency from overtaking the drone. Drones use electromagnetic noise to disrupt communication between them and their operators, typically at frequencies like 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz. This prevents interference with manned aircraft, cell phones, public broadcasts, or other radio bands. Anti drone Jammers can be stationary or mobile devices that can cause a drone to land safely. Geofencing creates a barrier around an airspace using GPS networks and LRFID connections like Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. This physical and invisible boundary is created using hardware and software. Video detection and thermal detection are two methods used in drone detection. Video can be used alongside other technologies to create a visual record of a detected drone incident. While not ideal for first-line defense due to weather or seasonal changes, it can be valuable for future review. Thermal imaging, while not ideal, can be helpful in finding drone operators in remote regions, such as around power plants. Thermal imaging cameras attached to a drone operated by security personnel can help locate the invading drone's nearby operator.
